SLS
SLS is a 100% Australian-owned environmental laboratory business, built on responsive service, technical capability and genuine client support. Since starting in Sydney in 2001, we have grown to operate two laboratories whilst staying true to the qualities that shaped the business from the beginning: direct communication, practical turnaround times and a straightforward approach to helping clients get the testing they need. We combine the capability expected of a modern laboratory with the authenticity, accountability and flexibility that come from being locally owned and close to our clients.
Our Services
SLS provides NATA-accredited environmental testing across soils, groundwater, surface waters, leachates, sediments, sludges, trade wastes and sand, with analytical suites suited to contaminated land, waste, fill and resource recovery testing programs. We believe in keeping the focus where it should be: accurate laboratory testing, clear reporting and responsive service.

Our scope includes metals and metalloids such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel, selenium, zinc, antimony, barium and vanadium; supporting inorganics such as cyanide, chloride, fluoride, hexavalent chromium, pH and chromium reducible sulfur for analysis of acid sulfate soils; and a broad range of organic contaminants including BTEX and related volatile compounds, TPH/TRH, PAHs, phenols, phthalates, organochlorine pesticides, organophosphate pesticides, PCBs and PFAS . This gives SLS coverage for many of the contaminant suites commonly specified required by EPA Victoria and NSW EPA guidelines.

SLS provides accredited OH&S laboratory services for workplace and airborne contaminants. The scope includes lead, respirable crystalline silica by XRD, inhalable and respirable dust by gravimetric methods and pfas in dust, for relevant sampling programs in confined spaces, indoor environments, construction sites and mines.

SLS provides method development and R&D support for clients and project teams working on materials, contaminants and testing challenges that sit outside standard laboratory methods. We work collaboratively to develop fit-for-purpose analytical approaches for complex matrices, new process streams and emerging technical questions, helping generate practical data to support product development, process optimisation and technical decision-making.

SLS supports the circular economy by providing NATA-accredited testing for recovered materials and challenging waste streams, including programs involving tyre waste, e-waste, plastics and organic wastes. Our accredited scope includes the core contaminants and supporting chemistry suites commonly required across these streams, including metals, hydrocarbons, volatile organics, PAHs, phenols, phthalates, PFAS and industrial chemicals, as well as pH, conductivity, chloride and fluoride. SLS provides practical laboratory support for clients working at the intersection of waste management, resource recovery and beneficial reuse.
